The Fayga Ostrower Institute

The Fayga Ostrower Institute was established in 2002, aiming at creating, installing and keeping a museum designed to exhibit Fayga Ostrower's workmanship on a public and permanent basis. It congregates and conserves a number of works of art left by her, together with relevant documents, writings, photographs, films and objects, all of which attempt at keeping her memory alive.

Fayga Ostrower Institute also intends to preserve, divulge and develop Fayga's ideas, concepts, workmanship spirit and life as a plastic artist, a writer, an educator and a woman of thoughts. The project is based upon her aesthetic vision and her universal ethics.

The Fayga Ostrower Institute is going to offer courses and seminars on fine arts and creative activities as well as interdisciplinary studies relating arts to other areas of human knowledge.

From the start I want to address, albeit briefly, a topic that usually comes up when we talk about the Fayga Ostrower Institute: everyone wants to know where it is located. We do not have a space for public visitation yet. However, that does not prevent us from offering courses, lectures and art shows at the many cultural spaces found in Rio de Janeiro and other cities. We are presently working on a series of fund-raising projects so as to make our work feasible. Here you will find all the information about our activities.
